Ari believes that the intersection of art and civic life is where we find shared values and collective agency. She works closely with artists and the community to advance dialogue across disciplines and to make contemporary art and ideas widely accessible.
Ari currently works as Public Art Project Manager at the San Francisco Arts Commission (SFAC). She previously served as Assistant Curator at The Contemporary Jewish Museum (CJM), a culturally-specific institution located in San Francisco's Yerba Buena neighborhood. The CJM's mission is to make the Jewish experience relevant and welcoming to a broader Bay Area community, a tenet of cross-cultural exchange that Ari has carried with her throughout her career in the Arts. Prior to working at the CJM, Ari consulted on the design and fabrication of public artworks for SFAC and independently for Bay Area–based artists. She has contributed to the development of public artworks for SFMTA's Central Subway and SFO; Berkeley Civic Art's BAWP Covid-19 recovery and resilience public art program; Little Tokyo Station in Los Angeles; as well as temporary public art installations for The 5x5 Project in Washington, D.C.. Ari was also co-curator at StoreFrontLab and co-founder of Parlor, an experimental art pop-up in San Francisco's Mission District. Ari received a BA in Art History from The New School University in New York, NY and a Masters of Landscape Architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, RI.
The following work samples were produced as an independent design consultant from 2012 to 2022 for artists commissioned by city agencies, educational institutions, community non-profits, and small businesses. Some of the following are in production, some designs have changed form or location, and a handful of these designs have
since been completed.
